It’s either free or very expensive to live in Iceland. I (involuntarily) chose to live here for free. But I could never imagine how I could live here for free so comfortably and could get everything I needed for free so easily.
However
Although it’s definitely good for us to have everything for free, it’s also a shame to see how people threw away so many things so easily.
One of my jobs here was to sort out the trash for recycling. We constantly found unexpired or even unopened food and many other useful stuff from the bins. Probably because most tourists are from countries with plenty of resources that some of them just easily throw away anything they don’t want or need anymore.
