The 3 days 3 nights long journey from Italy to Germany to Iceland by bus, flight, ferry and hitchhike.

10 days in Italy was like a holiday form my traveling. Now the holiday was finished and it’s time to go to my next destination,  ICELAND! for living, working and traveling.

2 Days 3 Nights Journey

Taking the flight was almost the only way to Iceland. I chose to fly from Berlin cause it was the cheapest and nearest option from Italy. First I took a bus at midnight from Florence to Milan, changed in the morning at 7 to Munich, took another night bus again at 11pm to Berlin, then made my final leg at 10pm to fly to Reykjavik, Iceland. A 2 days 3 nights journey cost me 90 euros. The cheapest was the two buses from Milan to Berlin, only 10 euros all together, while the Florence one was 20, a bit expensive because I only bought it one day in advance. The most expensive of course was the Eurowings flight for 50 Euros + 15 for one checked in bag.

Apparently, the earlier I booked, the cheaper they were. Just I had less than a month to make my trip to Iceland, including an Italy holiday in between. I would say 90 Euros was a very reasonable price to make it to Iceland from Italy now.

Passed by

I passed by three countries, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria, while on my way from Milan to Munich within my 7 hours bus journey. How different it was when comparing to traveling in South America. You may even not be passing by another village for hours there.

Germany

I had a half day time to spend in Munich. So happy my good old friend, Flo, lives not far from Munich. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with him again and asked him to showed me around Munich with a pint of German beer and a plate of German pig knuckle.

After saying goodbye to Flo and his beautiful Italian girlfriend, Staphenia, I headed to Berlin by an overnight bus. I was so tired when I got to Berlin. It wasn’t my first time to visit there and it was a Sunday, so I decided to get a cheap bed to have a nap, instead of wandering around when everything was closed.

I wasn’t going to Iceland alone. So we shared one checked in luggage to lower the flying cost. Nowadays, most budget airlines allow you to take one piece of medium size and one piece of small size hand luggages on board. My big backpack fits as a medium sized luggage while I have a daypack as a small sized luggage. Since Eurowings never makes it clear on their website if a second small sized luggage is allowed, I was a bit worried if I had to pay fine at the gate. Luckily, the only ground staff there was too busy to scan boarding pass, she never paid any attention to any luggage that anyone brought. So we got on the flight without any problem and only waiting to fly now.

Landed in Iceland

The flight journey was 3 hours something and it felt short to me because not long after the took off, I couldn’t help but falling to sleep quick and deeply. It was around midnight when we finally arrived Iceland. But the amazing midnight sun was still hanging there on the sky, making the sky still a bit dark blue and white. A very special feeling on my first night in the Icelandic summer.
