The day began with a relaxation hot spring outside Potosi, Bolivia…

There is a natural hot spring called “Ojo del Inca” (Eye of Inca) 20km outside Potosi and it’s only 10Bs for the entrance. We went there for a nice hot bath in the morning and hitchhiked back to town after it.

Not that luckily, we met with a protest where the hardworking miners blocked the bridge of the only way to town by rocks and dynamites due to not getting their pay. Though no cars can pass through the bridge, people were free to walk over it. So we got off and started to walk to the next village for the bus to go back.

After about 800m we passed by the bridge, we heard two loud explosions with few stones flew over our heads seconds later. While I was still in shocked, my friend already dragged me behind a police car to hide from the stones. We also saw a tiny stone flew like a bullet after another loud explosion.

All the police were woken up from their chitchattings and ran to their police cars for shelter. I was pushed away by one police cause I was in front of the car door while another police just told us off to another side of the road, so that he himself can get the protection from the car. Mind you, they were all equipped with helmets and bullet proof jackets.

Well, apparently in some countries, you shouldn’t expect too much from the police even you suppose protecting the civilians is their prime duty.

Luckily, there was no more explosion and we walked to the next village safe and sound finally.
